Two New Yarn Batches!

I've been experimenting with my spinning lately, trying to do something a little different from my previous projects.  The resulting yarns...

I just love this batch I named "Seaside".  It's a whopping 1171 yards of worsted squishy goodness.  I believe this technique is called "ragg yarn" - you spin a singles of a particular color (or colorway, in this case) and spin another of plain white (or a contrasting color) and ply them together.  It creates this lovely muted, soft effect that really does remind me of being on an ocean shore.  This was hugely fun to spin and I think I'll be trying this technique again!  A bonus is that this batch is for sale in my Etsy shop and since there is so much yardage, the possibilities for projects are endless!  I was so tempted to keep this back to crochet a short sleeved sweater for myself!

This yarn is named "Poppies" for its red-orange color.  This I simply spun and then dyed with a couple different reds after spinning.  I was surprised it came out more orange than red, but I think it's quite eyecatching.  It came out to 759 yards in a DK weight and is quite fun and bouncy!  Check it out in my Etsy shop if you are looking for some bright and cheery color.

I have more exciting spinning projects planned for the next few weeks, so stay tuned!  Thanks for stopping by!
